I’ve been on the lookout for new bikes in recent weeks and I was wondering about folding bikes. I can’t see them being super practical all the time. How are folding bikes compared to traditionally bikes on the market? Do they ride as good or better? Or is it just a gimmick for better ways of storing it?

I don’t own a folding bike but I believe that the durability of folding bikes are just same as other bikes. They are made from the same common frame materials and use components from the same brands.

Folding bikes were actually used by para-jumpers during world war. A veteran in our locality, has an antique folding bike as his family heirloom. It’s a very cool technological advancement in those days.

I have set up vertical bike holder in my garage, it saves me lot of space. So, not interested in these folding models. Till date MTB’s aren’t released with foldable option as they would crumble from the stress and shocks from the trail. May be some one can try them for solely commute purpose.

Folding bikes are novality items. Not meant for serious riders. The point of folding would break during hard runs and trails. Can be used by kids and occasional riders.

Folding bikes have smal sized wheels which cannot be navigated through rough terrain. Only this who wish to have small cycle with limited space mostly opt for this.
