Growing up, I mostly had myself mongoose brand bikes. I had this awesome lime green bike that I think was stolen when I was a kid, no joke. I remember loving that bike a ton. Then I got my first mountain bike and the rest is history. Sadly I don’t remember the brand of the mountain bike, but I’m pretty sure it was a really cheap one from Walmart back in the day. So nothing too special. But it got me around back then, so I can’t complain.
Anyway, what was the first bike you ever owned?

He owned it when he was a kid and he let me have it when I was old enough. Surprisingly it was in great shape, so he took care of it all that time. Which is surprising, because kids rarely took care of their bikes back then.

I remember I was not very confident riding for the first time. Balancing was a bit difficult for me. I had borrowed bike from a friend to get trained and my friend did help me a lot to overcome my fear. My father bought my first gearless bike when he was sure that I could ride on my own. I believe I was 12 year old then. The bike though was was a little bigger for my size. You can never imagine how excited I was on that day. I initially had to ask for help getting onto the bike. But as days passed and with experience and confidence, I could climb on to it by myself. I still cherish those days when I was volunteering to run on errands just so that I can enjoy my bike ride. Good old days they were.
September 24, 2021 at 7:34 am #1635iamandisykesKeymasterGood thread! I think my first mountain bike was an Emmelle, but my first ‘proper’ mountain bike was a Giant Boulder. I remember saving my pocket money and doing odd jobs, delivering papers etc to pay for it.

November 5, 2021 at 2:01 am #1642AnonymousInactiveWhen i was young, Mongoose was the coolest bike out there. Felt like a true rider, when i rode it. My parents gave it, as my Christmas present.

I still remember how we friends used to make crazy maneuvers around the streets in our neighborhood. Though I own a four wheeler now, I still cherish my bike and do meet up with my school buddies and take those rides into the countryside.
